Policy Statement
The Hospice aims at all times to recruit the person who is most suited to the particular job. Recruitment will be solely on the basis of the applicant’s abilities and individual merit as measured against the criteria for the job. Qualifications, experience and skills will be assessed at the level that is relevant to the job.

The Hospice is committed to applying an equal opportunities policy at all stages of recruitment and selection. Shortlisting, interviewing and selection will always be carried out without regards to gender, sexual orientation, marital status, colour, race, nationality, ethnic or national origins, religion or belief, age or trade union membership. Furthermore, any candidate with a disability will not be excluded unless it is clear that the candidate does not meet the minimum criteria outlined in the employee specification. Reasonable adjustments to the recruitment process will be made to ensure that no applicant is disadvantaged because of his/her disability.

It is the Hospice’s practice to seek a minimum of two written references (three for medical and nursing posts) and to ask for documentary proof of both qualifications and identification. Any offer of employment will be conditional on all of these being satisfactory to the Hospice. In addition it is the Hospice’s practice to seek a satisfactory report from the Scottish Criminal Records Office (Disclosure Scotland) prior to commencement of employment. Any offer of employment will be conditional on the report being satisfactory to the Hospice. For all clinical posts, any offer of appointment will be subject to evidence of registration with the appropriate regulatory body eg. GMC, NMC, HPC.
