Clinical Psychology

When you are ill, it is natural to feel anxious about what may happen, sad about the things you can no longer do or perhaps feel annoyed at what seems unfair.

Often, sharing these feelings with family, friends, nurse or doctor may be all that is needed. But sometimes that's simply not enough.

Our clinical psychologist can offer additional ways to help.

The psychologist is trained to help the person cope more effectively with whatever situation has arisen. Methods used will vary depending on the needs of the person and the type of problem.

It may be a matter of finding different ways to think about the problem; or learning new ways to deal with tension, such as deep relaxation.

Psychologists do not prescribe medication - treatments are designed to strengthen the person's own natural abilities to cope with problems and help them learn additional skills.
