VolunteeringSt Columba's Hospice relies on the tireless efforts of some 500 volunteers whose contribution not only allows our clinical staff to further concentrate their efforts on caring - but also has a beneficial effect on our patients and their surroundings. There are, at times, new opportunities to volunteer with us. NEW!! 1. Due to the expansion of our Volunteer Complementary Therapy Team , we are re now looking to recruit new volunteers to join us. Are you qualified and experienced in two or more of these therapies?
Are you available on a Tuesday? (if you are interested but not available on a Tuesday we would still love to hear from you!!) . Experience of working with people with advanced illness is not essential as all therapies will take place after consultation with a trained nurse and full support will be given. 2. Our Library Team are looking for new volunteers to support students with searches, etc. Do you possess information skills and/or have a Health Professional background? Attendances will vary but an advanced planning date diary is available.
Other volunteer opportunities are: - Drivers - taking our Day Hospice patients either to or from their homes. Own car required. Mileage expenses may be claimed. - Wards Team - Standby (ad hoc) cover required to cover holidays, etc. - Reception Team - Thursday and Saturday evenings - Coffee Room - Thursday and Saturday slots are now available. - Flower Team - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning slots now available. - Bookshop, Morningside Road - Monday and Saturday afternoons For more information on these volunteer opportunities, please call Volunteer Services on 0131 551 7711 or.........why not....... e-mail us at : vol@stcolumbashospice.org.uk
