The ultimate guide to fundraising for The Push
Are you new to fundraising? Do you need ideas other than asking friends and family for sponsorship? Are you feeling a bit daunted by your fundraising target? Or have you done lots of fundraising before and need some new ideas?
So you’ve already signed-up to take on The Push 2016 – Scotland’s toughest outdoor challenge event! Well done! For some people, fundraising for The Push is easier than the training and the event itself! However we know that isn’t the case for everyone and the thought of needing to reach your fundraising target can seem a little scary. But we are here to reassure you, it’s much simpler than you may think!

Once you have signed-up for The Push, we recommend you start your fundraising straight away! There are lots of different ways to reach your target for The Push, so don’t feel like the only way is to ask your family and friends for sponsorship.
We have listed a few ways which will help you smash your target and included links to some other great resources to help you along the way. So read on…you will find yourself much more confident by the end!
An online giving page
Fundraising can be easier and more fun than you would have thought! Your online giving page for The Push is automatically created for you when you register for The Push and is an easy and quick way of raising donations from people you know.
You can easily log-in to your giving page here. You can add a profile picture, update your supporters with your training, post pictures, see who has donated to your page and send your supporters a thank you message. It’s also really easy to share your page with family, friends and colleagues by emailing a link to your page or by sharing your page on social media. The more you share your page, the more likely you are to see your sponsorship total rise! So get it out there on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and email your link around!
Once you’ve logged in to your online giving page, simply click the blue button named ‘Share’ at the top of your page and select how you would like to share your page from the drop down menu. You can also share your updates, pictures and posts for everyone to see how your training is going.
Gift Aid It!
Don’t forget to Gift Aid it! Gift Aid tops up each and every donation by a further 25%, free of charge, all courtesy of the Tax Man! If your supporters have paid tax this financial year equal to, or above 25% of their donation to you, we can claim Gift Aid on that donation. That means that a £10 donation becomes £12.50 or a £100 donation becomes £125!
In order for us to claim this extra 25%, we need to confirm your supporters’ details. Without their home address details and ticked Gift Aid box, we can’t claim the extra money from the Inland Revenue. But don’t worry, your sponsorship form has a Gift Aid tick box, and each online platform has the same – making it easier than ever for your supporters to Gift Aid their donation in support of you.
Does your company or boss match funding? Many companies are willing to help you by matching the amount you raise, so don’t forget to check with your employer if they run this scheme. Companies are often pleased to help their employees in their fundraising attempts, especially if the charity is local.
Organise an event
Another great way to reach your target is to run your own fundraising event. This can be something as simple as a coffee morning, raffle or sweep-stake, or as extravagant as a race night, cocktail masterclass or band night! Our participants find each year that fundraising events are the quickest way to help bring in the donations. For teams and individuals, there is nothing better than pulling together an event, whether it be bag packing, car boot sales, raffles, karaoke evenings or a whisky tasting. There are plenty of ways you can reach your fundraising target, either with your team or on your own – you can make a difference for the Hospice and have a lot of fun at the same time.
