Book Week Scotland takes place from Monday 21 – Sunday 27 November and to join in with the activities taking place all over the country, our Goldenacre Book Shop is holding a series of special events.
Throughout Book Week Scotland, our Goldenacre Book Shop will be hosing a showcase of Scottish books, focusing on history, culture and politics.
There will also be special events taking place throughout the week which are all free and suitable for all ages. We hope to welcome you to the Goldenacre Book Shop during Book Week Scotland 2016.
Book Week Scotland is a week-long celebration of books and reading that takes place every November.
During Book Week, people of all ages and walks of life will come together in libraries, schools, community venues and workplaces to share and enjoy books and reading. They will be joined in this celebration by Scotland’s authors, poets, playwrights, storytellers and illustrators to bring a packed programme of events and projects to life. Home Remedies in the time of Jane Austen
Tuesday 22 November, 2pm
Learn how ladies treated ailments with herbs and receipts, as part of a practical talk and demonstration that is suitable for all ages.
Regency Redcoats – cancelled
Wednesday 23 November, 2pm
Led by historian Andrew Brown, you’ll discover how a Scottish soldier would have dress in the time of the Napoleonic Wars. This interactive session is suitable for people of all ages.

Ladies’ Fashions during the Jacobite Risings
Thursday 24 November, 2pm
How did ladies dress during this turbulent time in Scottish history? This talk and demonstration will put ladies’ fashions from the era in to the spotlight.
Musical performance by Madeleine Brand and Anne Gass
Friday 25 November, 2pm
Join us for a performance of traditional Scottish accordion music with a flute accompaniment.
The Goldenacre Book Shop is open six days a week throughout the year. The shop sells a huge range of second hand books, with many collectible books and special editions.
