We’ve worked together with a variety of organisations in Edinburgh and Scotland and have built lasting and mutually beneficial corporate partnerships. The following information might help with any questions you might have if you would like to support St Columba’s Hospice through your organisation.

What are the benefits of charity event sponsorship?St Columba's Hospice Burns Supper (10) support st columba's hospice

Sponsored charity events engage your brand or company with St Columba’s Hospice and publicly show your support for the Hospice. For example, by sponsoring a Hospice event, you are helping us to cover the running costs. This means that sponsorship donations raised by event participants can go directly to Hospice care. Another way to help would be to sponsor a month in our popular Artists’ Calendar printed every year. The benefits to the organisation could including the following;

  • enhancing your organisation’s image in the community as a good corporate citizen
  • improving your organisation’s credibility as a socially responsible company
  • improving employee motivation, morale and team relationships through involvement in charity projects
  • giving your organisation and employees the opportunity to have a tangible role in helping to sustain and improve palliative care in Edinburgh
  • increasing awareness of your organisation among supporters and stakeholders of St Columba’s Hospice.

Choosing St Columba’s Hospice as your charity of the year is a great way to build team morale as it gives you a period of time where you can work together as a team to plan your fundraising activities.

St Columba’s Hospice will work closely with you to design a host of fundraising events and activities over an agreed period of time. We will look at the demographics of your staff and recommend fundraising activities and events that will be entertaining and fun for your staff to participate in. We can supply a Fundraising Pack which has an A-Z of Fundraising Ideas and inspiration to help with your fundraising plans, as well as providing T-shirts, balloons and pop-up stands when required.

What is payroll giving?

Payroll Giving is a flexible scheme which allows anyone who pays UK income tax to donate regularly on a tax free basis to the charities and good causes of their choice. The scheme is normally set up by your payroll department. Payroll Giving donations are deducted before tax so each £1.00 you give will only cost you 80p, and if you’re a higher rate tax payer it will only cost you 60p.

Matched Giving

How can you inspire your employees to fundraise? By saying you’ll match their donations! Matched giving donations boost the morale of employee fundraisers as it shows them you are supporting what they do! Matched giving is a really easy way for employees to support St Columba’s Hospice.

Supporting our events

From a golf day to a quiz night, a dinner and dance to a bake sale – organising your own fundraising event is a great way for you to entertain your staff and customers whilst raising money for a great cause at the same time. We are on hand to give you support and advice with your event planning. Organising your own event is a fun and challenging way to support St Columba’s Hospice and we will help you every step of the way!

Participate in a Hospice sports challenge

We organise a range of sports events every year to raise money for the Hospice, and we also help people taking part in challenges organised by other organisations too! There is something for everyone whether you want to do the 13 mile A Walk to Remember, run for us in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival, or abseil off the Forth Rail Bridge! Their volunteering would be very much appreciated in any area they would like to help the Hospice. We currently have over 680 Hospice volunteers – receptionists, drivers, tin collectors, shop volunteers, gardeners and flower arrangers and many other roles. It is estimated the time given to the Hospice by volunteers is valued at £1 million every year. We are always looking for corporate teams as well to volunteer as a group – whether in the gardens, painting furniture, putting up the Hospice Christmas decorations, or helping with our events and campaigns.
