2018 is Year of Young People in Scotland and St Columba’s Hospice wants to celebrate the fantastic contribution young people make to our local communities.
We have an exceptional opportunity for 2 young people between 17 and 21 who are interested in a career in medicine, nursing or healthcare to gain invaluable volunteering experience across a variety of clinical and support services across St Columba’s Hospice.
We are offering a unique insight into a variety of roles required to provide the highest standards of care to patients with life limiting conditions. This structured programme of 50 hours of volunteering will run from late August to December and will require a regular weekly commitment at weekends, after school or occasionally during the day.
This opportunity will hugely enhance college, university or job applications and we will provide a detailed reference of your time with us plus the opportunity to meet one to one with senior Hospice managers. You will also gain valuable life skills through direct contact with patients, families and the hospice care teams and on successful completion of the programme you will have the opportunity to attend an awards ceremony later in the year.
If you would like to apply, please contact Maggie Young on 0131 551 1381 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request an application form.
The closing date for completed applications is Sunday 22nd July.
Interviews will be held on Monday 30th July between 10am and 7pm.
The successful candidate must be available to attend an Induction Day on Saturday 8th September.
“I’ve been volunteering in the wards doing water rounds for patients for over 8 months. If you’re thinking about it, I’d say go for it – it’s been a great experience and spending your free time helping others is an amazing thing to do!”
